Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Social Scientist to join our team in London.

The Social Scientist will provide leadership to strengthen understanding of social determinants of health and to improve the capacity to use social science insights to inform the design, implementation and evaluation of the RPC. The role will provide technical assistance on the use of social science methods and approaches, and build capacity on social science related aspects of the RPC.

The successful candidate will have:

  • MSc in Public Health, Global Health, Sociology, Anthropology, Research Methods or a related social science discipline
  • Substantial experience in social science research design and management; experience in leading operational/implementation research
  • Strong understanding of the social determinants of health and how social science insights can be used to inform global health approaches
  • Demonstrable experience leading the design and implementation of qualitative or quantitative research methods with good understanding of both
  • Strong skills in communicating scientific / development research to non-research audiences
  • Knowledge of the policy and practice environment in vector control and current debates within the research discipline
  • Skills in developing a range of outputs for communicating research – in print, electronic and face-to-face formats.
