Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Senior Research Advisor to join our team in London, UK.

The senior research advisor will work with the technical leadership to provide strategic and technical direction to Malaria Consortium’s research portfolio, particularly in the areas of maternal, neonatal and child health (MNCH), mHealth and health systems strengthening in the Africa and Asia regions. The position holder will build internal capacity to further develop the organisation’s operational research portfolio through the securing of grants or funding, protocol design, quality assurance of implementation and dissemination of findings. The position holder will lead the research group, and internal community of practice. The post holder will develop, support and manage collaborations with research partners, stakeholder agencies and donors. The position holder will actively seek opportunities for strategic and forward positioning of the organisation within the research community in the areas specified above.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A PhD in public health, health policy, epidemiology or another relevant specialty is a minimum requirement
  • Several years’ experience of working in a senior regional or academic role and at least 6 years’ experience of having worked at national level in low or middle income countries
  • The candidate shall have deep insights and profound understanding of the field of health systems and health policy research on interventions for improved maternal and child health in Africa
  • Significant professional experience in leading large scale or multi-country projects in international settings and proven expertise in managing difficult and complex project tasks
  • Demonstrable experience in securing research funding
  • Experience in conducting research on maternal and child health and on health systems
  • Demonstrable experience in publishing papers as senior author
  • Experience capacity building in the field of research methodology/epidemiology, ethics, and health systems and health policy research
